| Perry Memorial Hospital Community Walking Challenge May 11, 2009 – June 22, 2009 Perry Memorial Hospital organized a community walking challenge to promote physical fitness and wellness in the community. The challenge ran from May 11th through June 22 for a total of six weeks, and was co-sponsored by Exchange Bank and First Bank and Trust. Participants wore pedometers to track the number of steps they walked each day and logged them on the hospital’s website. Joe Duerr, PMH administrator stated, “Many people walk more than they realize during day to day activities, and those that do not gain awareness to help them increase their activity level and set reasonable goals. Plus it’s just fun to watch your step count go up and compare with your friends, family and co-workers!” There were three team prizes awarded for first, second and third place based on total steps for the team. Individual prizes were awarded based on random drawing of qualifying participants. To qualify, participants had to sign up and register on the website and then their average number of daily steps put them into one of three categories. Three winners were drawn from each category. Prizes were awarded in Perry bucks. “Community participation was great, and we all had a lot of fun. We will definitely plan on doing another community challenge in the future.” A special thanks goes to Exchange Bank and First Bank and Trust for their generous support of their community. Team winners were:
